Thank you for choosing The PixSee MultiMedia Browser!
There is extensive online help that you may access from the program so this file contains only the information needed to get you started.
If you received PixSee in a ZIP file you should unzip it into an empty temporary directory. Once it has been installed you may delete all files in that directory.
NOTE: In an effort to keep things simple and accurate there is only one version of this INSTALL.TXT file to cover all varieties of PixSee. It is currently available in 4 different varieties: standalone 16 bit and 32 bit versions are available from our Web site to minimize download time; the file distributed as shareware via online services, the Internet and BBS's containing both versions; and the fully-licensed variety also containing both versions. In the following procedure whenever it specifies an EXE file to run please substitute the following in place of yyyyyyyy:
16 bit standalone filename is PIXC16I.EXE 32 bit standalone filename is PIXC32I.EXE Shareware dual version filename is PIXSEEI.EXE Fully-Licensed version filename is PIXSEER.EXE
When both the 16 and the 32 bit versions are included the installation program will determine which version of Windows you are running and will automatically install the correct version of PixSee unless you tell it otherwise.
Windows 3.1 Installation
You use Program Manager to install PixSee. From the menu, select "File" and then "Run". Next you type "x:yyyyyyyy" replacing x with the drive the floppy is in (usually A) and replacing yyyyyyyy with the proper filename as listed above. If you unzipped PixSee into a temporary directory you would also include the name of the directory it is in. This will install PixSee and create a group with icons. You may alternately use File Manager to install PixSee by double clicking on the EXE file in the directory you unzipped it into. This will install PixSee and create a Program Manager Group for it.
Windows 95 Installation
You may either use the Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel or click on the Start button and select run. Next you type "x:yyyyyyyy" replacing x with the drive the floppy is in (usually A) and replacing yyyyyyyy with the proper filename as listed above. If you unzipped PixSee into a temporary directory you would also include the name of the directory it is in. This will install PixSee and add it to the Start Menu.
You may alternately use Explorer to install PixSee by double clicking on the EXE file in the directory you unzipped it into.
We hope you enjoy the PixSee MultiMedia Browser and will help to further its growth by sharing the original unregistered version with your friends.
